5 Ways to Celebrate The First Day Of Spring

Mar 21, 2022

Hello, spring! Here are five unique ways to welcome to the new season.

Spring has finally sprung!

Did you know the word equinox is Latin means equal night?

The sun passes over the equator in the northern hemisphere and continues north after the spring equinox. Each year, it typically falls between March 20-22. It is also known as Ostara and celebrated as a time of fertility, renewal, rebirth and new beginnings for thousands of years. Many of these traditions have found their home in modern day Easter.

Here are ways to celebrate longer (and warmer!) days.

Bring Spring Indoors
Flowering houseplants and fresh flowers like tulips - there are so many ways to bring the fresh floral smells and beauty and spring indoors. Freshen up your home with essential oils for your diffuser while tackling that spring cleaning. You can even plan for next year and think about which flowering bulbs you want to grow indoors.

Go On A Hike

Get outside and enjoy the new life outside! The first spring day is a beautiful day to enjoy the extra sunlight and flowering bulbs. There are plenty of hiking, biking trails, and canoe routes around London. Keep a lookout for critters!

Plan A Picnic

Get your loved ones or friends together for a spring equinox picnic! Not only will you get out to be with Mother Nature as she awakens, but you can also create seasonal salads and drinks. Don’t forget to go green and limit your waste and pack out any garbage you create.

Make A Spring Themed Craft

There are so many great spring crafts for all ages! Kids will love these pipe cleaner flowers, ladybug stones, cherry blossom handprint tree, or lavender painted mason jars. Adults can make a terrarium, mason jar herb garden, spring wreath, or a scented teacup candle.

Start A New Hobby

Since spring is a time for new beginnings, why not start a new hobby? Try writing, painting, a new exercise routine, or start a new book. There are plenty of tutorials online to flow, or you can see if there are any local shops offering classes near you. For The Love of Art and Artventure are popular locations in the city.
