Rainy Day Rewards
July 30, 2020
Rainy days can truly offer many benefits. With nothing calling you away out of doors, you can focus on the many indoor activities and projects that always seem to slip by the more “important” things. Here are a few things to think about when those summer storms hit, and you need something to while away the hours.
Think of Starting a Family Recipe Book
Almost everyone can think of at least one family recipe that has been handed down over the years. For those families for whom cooking or baking is integral, there can be plenty of those lying around in our heads or in boxes. Think about collecting those recipes in a book or something similar that can be easily reproduced or passed on to others. Your children and grandchildren will thank you!
Start a Genealogy Tree
You may know who your great-parents were, but can you name their parents? Starting a genealogy tree goes beyond just names though. With certain records, you can discover what occupations your ancestors had, where they lived or emigrated from, along with plenty of interesting side notes. There are many free to use resources, and some libraries provide access to sites like Ancestry.
